Today, we’re honored to share a change to our name: HASA is now Gateway.
For nearly 100 years, we’ve been at the forefront of language and communication services in Maryland, growing from a gathering place for the hard of hearing in 1926, to a modern organization known for its comprehensive communications offerings. This change isn’t just about adopting a new name; it’s about aligning with our commitment to clinical excellence and responding to the dynamic needs of our community, while understanding the evolving landscape of neurodiversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging.
It’s time our name mirrors what we stand for today; and reflects our promise to remain nimble and responsive as we explore, expand, and embrace future possibilities in communication and connection. This rebranding is inspired by our desire to enable growth and more accurately represent our ingenuity and culture of opportunity.
Gateway embodies our mission to ensure everyone can understand and be understood. With services ranging from Audiology, Speech and Occupational Therapy to Interpreting Services, Sign Language Classes, and a specialized K-8 school for children with autism and developmental disabilities, we are dedicated to fostering an environment of integrity, compassion, and equity. Annually serving more than 4,000 children and adults, we strive for a society where language diversity is accepted, and everyone is treated with compassion and equity.
As we embark on this new chapter as Gateway, we carry with us a legacy of impact, innovation, and a belief in the power of communication to transform lives. This transition from HASA to Gateway is a reaffirmation of our dedication to serving as a portal to understanding for every individual, at every stage of life, now and into the future.
Thank you for being part of our community.
